'Functional Core' Movement Classes - by donation

Having a functional core and body system is important for all aspects of life whether it is walking, wildcrafting, gardening, looking after children, working or doing other exercise.  Often things that limit our movement such as back ache and pelvic issues can be helped with specific mindful movements and breath to repattern the body.

These classes are short half an hour classes to fit into your day around work and childcare.  Movements are based on yoga, pilates, and functional mindful movement methods to help to repattern and rehab the body.  The classes include breathwork and alignment to develop a functional core and improve any pelvic health issues.

 

The classes may help to: 

  • develop a functional core

  • help pelvic health issues - (incontinence, prolapse, diastasis)

  • improve back pain

  • neck and shoulder tension
  • improve alignment

  • regulate the nervous system

  • benefit postnatal women (however long postnatal)

  • Suitable for men and women 

Moving with intension and awareness can help to regulate the nervous system. Recent pain science shows that regulating the nervous system has a massive affect on pain sensations.

The classes are NOT about trying to get into twisty difficult yogic positions or developing a 6-pack.

These movement classes are offered online in 2 ways:

  1. Live online weekly class using zoom. These are by donation per class 

  2. Pre-recorded on-demand classes, pay monthly (£10), cancel at anytime.

  • EKTA - Drop in group supporting mainly, but not exclusively, Sikh elderly community.​

  • Circle of Women Yoga Project - Yoga for women survivors of human rights abuses.​

  • Dumbarton District Women's Aid - Yoga in a Women's Aid refuge in the Dumbarton area.

  • The Red Cross - unaccompanied asylum seeking minors.

  • The Govan and Craigton Integration Network - working with female asylum seekers.

  • Ruby Project - Massage and Yoga for African Women's Group

  • Rape Crisis Centre - Series of stress relief and breathing workshops for helpline volunteers.

  • Phoenix Futures - Helping those affected by substance misuse rebuild their lives.

  • Momentum Scotland Clydebank - who support people through a wide range of rehabilitation: adults with mental health issues, brain injury, physical and learning disabilities, spinal injury, substance abuse.

  • SAWA - Scottish African Women's Association - Supporting female asylum seekers and refugees.​

  • Jewish Care Scotland, The Walton Community Care Centre - Drop in group supporting the elderly Jewish Community​

  • Hindu Temple - Supporting elderly Hindu women.
